I
am widely diverse in the use of technology. Where possible I have provided links
to actual products that demonstrate the use of the technology. Many of the items
have a description to outline my skill level and abilities with each of these
technologies.
Technology
(rollover the topic to see
the descriptions)
I
have been building and working on websites since 1996 using HTML and Web Editors
like Dreamweaver and FrontPage. I currently work on my own sites and manage
websites for clients. The demo link will take you to an external website with
links to different projects I have worked on.
I
use Flash primarily to design web learning activities. The Flash project illustrated
is a computer based training module designed as a part of a training designed
for Front Range Community College. The remaining links are product demos created
for the Biological Solutions Site.
I
have designed several business and e-learning solutions using database connectivity.
Some of the applications I have built include using ASP to post data to websites,
create forms for posting to a database, updating data records for learning and
posting data from a database for dynamic websites.
I
have built web delivered instruction for corporate, small business and virtual
learning environments. The instruction shown here is instructionally designed
and built by me. I am continuing to build instruction in these areas and build
new skills and tools for delivering web learning.
In
collaboration with several other team members I designed a Computer Based Training
Program for Front Range. This project could later be used on the Intranet. At
this time the project needed to be self-contained for the learners. The program
was designed, developed and distilled into the CBT format for use in their staff
training.
I
utilize project management with many of the instructional design and learning
projects I develop and design. In the example presented I used Microsoft Project
Manager to organize and manage the deliverables and timelines for the team project.
PowerPoint
is one of the programs I utilize to deliver training and information to a variety
of audiences. Depending on the requirements for the delivery of information
I can add voice, graphics and design elements.
I
use programs like PhotoShop and Fireworks to create graphics for the web, for
print media and for technical communications. Depending on the requirements
of the programs I will choose the program that is best suited for the project.
I
currently work with clients to create a variety of professional and technical
communication products. I can work with print media to create business newsletters,
ads, marketing materials and documentation. I can use most desk top publishing
programs to create professional materials.
Visio
is one example where I utilize a software program to manage hierarchical charts.
Programs like Visio are helpful when needing a program to make flow charts,
maps, and detailed outlines for process and communication tools.
I
use all of the Microsoft programs for technical communications, documentation,
management of communications and organization of data. I am proficient as a
technical writer and documentation specialist in Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook,
Access, PowerPoint, FrontPage and Microsoft Project. I use most advanced features
in these programs.
I
use a variety of hardware tools and software applications to develop multi-media.
The types of equipment I use depends on the nature of the media I need to develop
and the tools available to create the project. I am proficient in handling a
variety of equipment to develop technical communications and instructional media.
I
have worked with designing for learning management systems, learning portals
and content management. Specifically, I can use virtual learning environments
and design for these environments.
I
use Macromedia and their suite of tools primarily for designing e-learning solutions
and web site design and development. I am expanding skills in additional tools
and technologies available through Macromedia and will be able to add additional
software to this list soon.
