ISO Documentation - Managing The Work Flow

S-0001-00; S-0001-01; S0011-00

Documentation, whether new, existing, or obsolete each have a unique process. Below is a quick step-by-step of how each of these documents are managed in the quality system. Need a visual? Creating A New Document

Changing an Existing Doc.

Obsolete a Doc.

Document *template is used by the responsible department to create the document.

Document is checked-out of VSS.

Notification to ISO Control to request obsolete is issued by the responsible department.

Document # Assigned through ISO Documentation

Responsible manager or staff updates the document using track changes in Word.

Request for obsolete is issued to responsible signatories.

Document is reviewed and updated by the department for current format.

The exhibits, flows and screen shots are all updated accordingly. Document is reviewed and updated by the department for current format.

Signatures attained.

The document is "proofed" or process approved by the responsible department

The department reviews and conducts the initial proof or process approval.

Notification of release for obsolete is issued to the ISO Distribution List.

The proofed document is forwarded to ISO Documentation

The document is finalized by the department and sent to ISO Documentation.

All documents in ISO Control are updated for obsolete.

The ISO Review assures conformance to the standard

The document is reviewed for conformance to the standard.

*A current copy of the documentation template is available on the ISO Web Site. If you are using a copy of the template from your hard-drive or a network location, you will need to check with ISO Documentation to make sure the template is the current version.

Changes in documentation change the template and are released to the ISO Distribution List. Keeping current with these changes makes the revision/change/release process move quicker.

The template may be obtained through ISO Documentation to be used for your documentation as a quick reference and aide in setting up new documents.
